Allons~y 2010 and farewell the Doctor

The fireworks in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil looked pretty amazing. I wish there had been such a display here on New Years Eve.

I hope everyone has had a good start to 2010. It was pretty fun over New Years to watch the recap montage of things that happened in the last decade. Y2K is just one of the hilarious things in hindsight.

David was a brilliant Doctor and certainly my favourite.

2010 also aired the last special episode for David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor on Doctor Who. I watched this at the start of the week and it was a great finish for David – blowing the TARDIS interior up while regenerating. It wrapped up 3 seasons for him as the Doctor and well, his goofy eccentric version of the Doctor was the main reason I enjoyed the show so much. The ending sequence – his reward – was the highlight of the two part special and made the conclusion so much more melancholic. It’s sad to see him go, the next Doctor – Matt Smith – has huge shoes to fill and judging by the preview of Season 5, the Eleventh Doctor certainly is doing a lot of things uncharacteristic of Tennant’s version. I don’t know whether I’ll watch the next series yet, I definitely didn’t like the swapping of “Allons~y!” for “Geronimo!”  though.

Preview for Series 5, 2010:

But just why.. why is there a Dalek again? I thought they said they weren’t bringing back the old enemies anymore. ;_;

    The only way you know for sure something’s going to happen on Doctor Who is if those involve say it’s definitely happening, no way, no how. They did it with the Master, the Time Lords, the Daleks, Rose, etc. etc.

      I could have sworn I read somewhere that Steven Moffat said at some point last year that he wasn’t bringing back the Daleks – at least for this season anyway.

        I THINK Russell T. Davies said that Moffat wasn’t ‘bringing in any of his monsters’, so I presume he means stuff like the Ood and the Judoon.

        Mind you that was RTD, most of it’s bullshit coming out of his mouth.
