Heroes – Cold Snap 3×20
Firstly, if you’re coming from AnimeNano – I apologize if you were expecting anime material. I do blog on other stuff, just less often than anime or manga.
Now, onto Heroes. I must admit, I was very impressed with this latest installment of Heroes. It was certainly an improvement on the previous episodes in the Fugitives arc and had some really nice scenes.
The story revolved around the revealing of “Rebel” who is none other than our tech boy – Micah. I’m not really suprised here, since he was one of the only people left with that sort of ability that could have pulled it off. Tracy’s betrayal was somewhat expected, ending up as the “chilling consequences” for revealing Rebel’s identity. But she did well towards the end, protecting Micah as well as taking out the team. If she hadn’t frozen herself as well, then she could have stopped Danko pulling the trigger. But her blinking eye? Perhaps she isn’t really dead… after all, on Heroes there’s always a way of them returning somehow.
Hiro and Ando’s quest to save the baby Matt Parkman was quite funny at times I thought. The baby is being hunted due to his ability – someone explain to me why Danko’s team would know please – of being able to “turn things on”. Such as the TV and robot toys when the baby touched them. This also returned Hiro’s powers (most likely temporarily) when he is in contact with Hiro. However, he’s only capable of stopping time and not teleportation.
I thought the writers said they were phasing out time-travel… so travelling in time isn’t really that appropriate, is it? Hence, I was thinking it was going to be just teleportation, but instead it’s only time manipulation.
Matt and Daphne’s ending was quite sad. Although it was all in their minds, the scene that played out was nice but I was slightly hoping Matt would have arrived in time to save Daphne. However, this wasn’t the case and Daphne’s heart gave out soon after Matt “took” her to the moon.
Meanwhile, Angela is now on the run after HRG advises her “not to go home”. Danko wants her in custody now that he has control over the operations instead of Nathan. She barely escapes when the agents ambush her car, luckily for her she was able to dream it happening seconds beforehand. She is surrounded in a building elevator by agents but Peter comes and flies her out of there just before they shoot. They end up in the Statue of Liberty and with Peter asking what she wants to do now. This will no doubt lead to the church scenes shown in the BTS photos and videos where they take refuge – and probably begin the fight back.
This episode was great for me and is one I enjoyed a lot for the first time in ages. These Bryan Fuller episodes are just amazing and I can’t wait for his next one.
Next week looks like Sylar will come back to meet with Danko and it seems they will be working together from then. Presumably this will let Sylar go and hunt everyone else down but it’s rather hypocritical of Danko since he hates evolved humans.
