Suzumiya Haruhi Season 2

February 7, 2009

DELAYED. Once again. KyoAni and Kadokawa are really just playing with us Haruhi fans yet again. Despite the various announcements that came out in 2007 (such as the full page advertisement in Asahi Newspaper and the 20min Live Action surveillance video) and the Newtype cover page of Haruhi in 08, they are just toying with us with their latest announcements.

Yes, Haruhi will be airing this April 2009. Except that it’s a re-run of the original first season. Hurray. <- That, is the latest development with the newest issue of Newtype.

It seems Haruhi has disappeared altogether with The Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya. Are they simply playing along with the storyline and purposefully keeping it quiet? If so, this certainly is not something that will appeal to the fans. Have KyoAni got so busy with their current shows Clannad After Story and the April scheduled anime K-On! that they’ve decided to ditch season 2?? Or are the two producers simply trying to make it seem that any announcement never existed?

The closest we’ve got to some sort of new Haruhi anime so far is really only through Lucky Star.

I say that because The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya-chan (which airs on Friday this coming week) isn’t really a new show. Like the Shana-tan and now more recently, Index-tan OVAs that have aired, I’m expecting that to be somewhat similar.

Meanwhile… lets enjoy something Haruhi-based. Considering that we aren’t getting much from the official producers, this impressive MAD may be the closest thing we get. Maybe.
